Mother Dear

Hello everyone! :) Another scorcher in southern California, I am just not made for this kind of weather but I do love the sunny clear skies. Anyways I wanted to post this on Mothers day but I am a tad late but this post is an appreciation post to my mother. Lately I've been making more and more outfits for her because why not?

My mother has been in my corner since the day I was born and has been supporting me in my sewing adventures. She's there when I need her and offers advice and critiques. Without her support I don't know where I'd be right now so this post is dedicated to her.

Once again this is a two for one post so I'm sharing some dresses I made for my mother. The first dress I made I actually made a while back and I'm just getting the chance to share with you. My mom picked out the fabric for this dress, its a very colorful argyle print and has a soft corduroy which oddly my mom didn't like but it was soft and a nice flow and she couldn't pass it up. :)

Below is the pattern I used to create the dress.

This pattern required a lot of fabric and had an interesting twist to it which I will share in a moment. The process of making this dress was a long and tedious one because I wanted to make sure everything was just right. :)

Sorry for the bad picture quality but this is the dress as I was working on it and if you think that is the front of the dress you'd be wrong. :) TWIST! its the back and it actually looks really great. However with this dress you'd need a helping hand.

Now I would like to present to you Simone...

Isn't she grand! I had to use a petticoat to give her that fullness but she can be worn without one. I adored the colors and the print of the fabric itself and she has a nice flow to her and I like how she isn't too overwhelming despite the bold bright print.

This is what she looks like from the back and as you can see the buttons go all the way down so this is a dress you'd want to wear with the help of a friend.

This is my lovely mother modeling her dress Simone. The dress is actually quite beautiful and it looks great on her. The accessories used are a pearl choker and some pearl earrings with her hair tied back in a ponytail.

Simone is a flirty fun dress which you'd could wear just about anywhere, maybe at work that isn't too strict about the dress code. Simone is a statement dress she'll turn heads. :)

The next dress I'll be sharing with you I made for mom for mothers day. :) This dress had a lot of trials for me. I didn't get enough fabric for the dress so I borrowed my boyfriends bike and rode all the way to Joanns which was not the best idea but I wanted to complete the dress before she got home for mothers day. However the fabric I originally got Joanns no longer had so I had to pick a different fabric which was a tad sheerer than the one I originally purchased. The print I chose was a white fabric with black polka dots.

So I was able to finish the dress an hour after mom returned home on mothers day which was fine with me because she got her gift on mothers day.

Below is the pattern I used which I recently purchased.

I bought this pattern with the idea that I don't have enough wiggle dress patterns and I absolutely love wiggle dresses. It was actually a pretty complex pattern to work with especially with the darts, faux back belt and collar but it was actually pretty fun to make.

Now let me introduce you to Dotty...

Now I have no pictures of Dotty on my dress form because my dress form didn't do her justice fit wise but this is her. Dolly is sheer like I said and would require a slip to wear her. The pattern originally had pockets but mom opted not to have those.

This is a view of the back, with the faux back belt however you can't really see the darts in this one.

Now Dotty is for the fun loving woman at work or out and about enjoying the day. I see this dress as more of a day outfit not something you'd wear in the night life.

Alright everyone that's it for now I hope you enjoyed and I hope to post more soon. For now you can check out my etsy ;)

Ja ne everyone!

Lydia & Lorelei

Afternoon everyone long time no see! :) It has been a hectic last few weeks and I've been super busy but I am posting today to give you a two for the price of one post. However I would first like to add that I turned 21 on April 26th! so I'm still super excited about reaching the 21st milestone I still feel like a kid but I also feel older which is a crazy feeling.

Now besides it being my birthday I finally opened up my etsy shop yay! So I'm feeling super proud of myself. I also took the time to make my own name labels which is as equally exciting.

The outfits I'll be presenting to you are the playsuits I previously made in this post: 04/pink-flamingo.html">http://anezvintage.blogspot.com/2013/04/pink-flamingo.html

I'm actually really in love with the pattern as you can tell so I decided to make both the skirt and the shorts together and sell them on my etsy. Both outfits were very time consuming and took a lot of effort because I was being a perfectionist. The first outfit I'll be presenting to you, her name is Lydia and she's made of a softer yet durable fabric I believe the same fabric I used to me Laura.

Now Presenting Lydia...

I apologize my dress form doesn't really do her justice here but I did have one of my models model her for me. Now I made Lydia out of all black because I was having a Beetlejuice moment and thought a playsuit would look great in all black especially since you can accessorize like crazy and add splashes of color if you so desire. Now these playsuits something I forgot to mention in the last post can be worn with or without a bra depending on your preference, however if you do decide to go braless I'd advise wearing pasties just in case.
Here are some more picture of Lydia being worn by my other model Emily, Emily is 5"4 with a bust of 33 and a waist of 28 just to give you an idea of the fit.

Emily was so awesome to work with and the outfits look great on her, we didn't do a whole lot of accessorizing her just a simple colorful head tie that gave the outfit that pop of color. :)

Now the final outfit was a joy to work with and has to be one of my favorite color combinations I've used. With the skirt pattern it was actually way longer than the pictures I'm about to show you because the pattern is originally made for pajamas so I had to shorten it. I actually shortened it in such a way that was perfect.

Introducing Lorelei...

Isn't she gorgeous! :) I had to give myself a pat on the back on this one because the colors and print just blend so well together. :) The skirt portion is made of a lighter sheerer fabric so you'd have to wear a slip underneath but it has a great flow.

This is an up close picture of my name labels I made. :)

With Lorelei we chose to with a simple brown belt and a large green bracelet which worked quite nicely. :)

These two outfits I believe are made for woman who is going beach side to enjoy a hot and sunny day. Lorelei is very playful and fun while Lydia is more reserved and laid back.

That's all for now everyone hope you enjoyed and below is a link to my etsy shop if you would like purchase one of these lovely outfits however I only ship within the US for now.

Ja ne everyone! :)

Pink Flamingo!

Hello everyone! hope all is going well, I'm a busy bee during my spring break. Recently I went to Joanns with my mother and we bought a boat load of fabric so the past few days I've been nonstop sewing. So far I've made three things but I'll be showing you the second project I've completed.

Now while at Joanns I spotted this adorable fabric with a flamingo print on it and I just knew that is was perfect for the 40's pajama pattern that I bought recently. Now this project took roughly about a day and I improvised in some areas.

I shared this pattern in my previous pattern collection. This is a pajama pattern but I thought it would be cuter as a day/beach outfit. There was a piece missing which was the cuff for the sleeve so I just put my own spin on it and I made the pants a tad shorter. :) Now I'm a real stickler about buying interfacing because I am a cheap broke college student even though I should have bought some for this outfit but either way it still came out great.

This is the fabric :) the pattern itself had a smaller bust size so I had to adjust the size using the pattern paper I purchased.

This is both the top and bottom of the outfit before completion and at first I thought it would be too overwhelming but it actually came together quite nicely.

Now let me introduce you to Anita :)

I tried a different area in which to do my photo shoot so I and my wonderful boyfriend/photographer went down to San Pedro which turned out to be the perfect area to do the shoot.

I actually had a really good time doing this shoot and the water was freezing!

Now Anita is the type of outfit you wear on a hot day to the beach or a car show. She's flirty and fun and I had a great time creating her. :)

That's it for now, hopefully I can share more creations with you soon hope you enjoyed and feel free to comment if you would like.

Side note: I'm hoping to open up my Esty shop next month so I can start selling some of my creations.

Ja ne everyone!

Summer Beat: Pattern Collection Pt. 2

Hello everyone! Happy Easter! It is another beautiful day in southern California and with my recent weather update its going to get even more beautiful and hotter.  This means I have to break out all my spring/summer cloths which should be fun since my closet is overing flowing with clothes right now to the point where my door is broken haha. Anyways I've been pattern shopping once again and have been buying summer related patterns though I don't believe I'll be buying fabric anytime soon due to higher priorities.

So I would like to share my pattern collection for spring/summer.

This is my lastest purchase off esty and oh my gosh did I hit a gold mine this week. This pattern wasn't too expensive around $20 but it was very well spent. This pattern is perfect for spring/summer and I just adore it. Theres a third outfit; its a dress but it was cut out. This will be the first time I'll be making three outfits so this project will be a long one but well worth it.

This is another gold mine find for me. this pattern cost me only $12! Its a pajama pattern but I can see some use of it as a day outfit. I believe this is a 1940's pattern I'm not entirely sure. I cannot wait to get started on this beauty.

Another summer dress, well a wrap dress anyway. :) This cost around $16 and I just thought this one was so cute.

Another good find for me :) this one is from the 60's and kind of reminds me of a nice beach side outfit or a picnic outfit.

Last but not least this gem. I bought this 50's pattern a while back but I think it would be a perfect summer outfit. :) I even have a dress to share with you that I made from this pattern.

This is Charlotte and I like the colors they used in the pattern so I decided to use them in my garment. The collar was a very interesting make and I enjoyed how she came out. Charlotte is the kind of dress you would wear on a nice summer day maybe out for a stroll or a picnic. Somewhat reserved but still playful and fun. :)

Welp thats all for now hopefully I can update soon and show you more of my creations. Hope everyone enjoyed.

Ja ne! :)

Luna

Hey everyone! Man this Southern California weather doesn't know what it wants to do. One day its cloudy and windy the next its sunny and hot its crazy haha, but I love it. :) I am happy to share another dress with you. This particular dress was filled with experiments and trying new things. The pattern I used for this dress was actually too small for me, in the bust area that is. So I decided to purchase pattern paper and adjust the size so that it would fit. I searched around for how to resize patterns and I kinda just took different aspects and it was actually pretty simple I surprised myself. I purchased the pattern paper off of amazon and it was 12 dollars. When I first got it, it felt really soft and flimsy but it was actually quite durable.

This is the pattern I used, its such a lovely pattern and I had to have it and as you can see the bust is a 32 which I am not haha. I only made the dress I didn't make the jacket because money has been tight lately so I couldn't afford anymore fabric.

This is my new kitten Max :) he is a super playful kitten and was trying to help me sew but the little guy was actually in my way but it was cute he tried. The fabric I choose was a cotten blend though I can't really remember what it was blended with. I need to be more aware of the blends but it is very soft however it is a bit see through but that is easily fixed with a slip. The dress itself took around a day to complete though I did make some minor adjustments with the zipper.

As you can see I did a little embroidery on the collar, they are crescent moons hence the name of this post. It took a couple of tries with the moons because I am a perfectionist but I like how they turned out and they gave the dress more personality.

As I said before this dress came with me trying new things and one of them was putting them on someone besides me or my mother. This is the first time I've used a model since sometimes its hard for me to have someone else take pictures of me in the dress for some reason. My friend volunteered to be my model and I love her so much for that. I was a little nervous doing the photoshoot since it was my first time really doing anything like that and I'm not professional photographer but I like how the pictures turned out.

Now I'm proud to introduce my creation Luna as worn by my model Denise. :)

No real accessories with this dress because its fine on its own but it can accessorized with many different things.
Luna is the type of dress worn by someone who is going out and about shopping, out a nice restaurant or just enjoying a sunny day at the beach. I would categorize this dress as a spring/summer dress.

Heres a close up of the embroidery on the collar :)

Welp I hope everyone enjoyed, feel free to comment if you like. As of now I won't really be working on anything new since money is tight for me but I hope to share a new creation with everyone as soon as I can.

Ja ne everyone!

She's Filled With Secrets

Hello all! :) I'm posting sooner than expected because I want to share my newest creation with you. The idea was to have my friend model it for me but I couldn't wait for next week I wanted to share her with you now.

Now recently I've been watching the 90's show Twin Peaks and I entirely blame the people I follow on tumblr haha. I was lucky that netflix has both seasons streaming online and I fell in love with the show. It was something different and unqiue especially for a 90's show.  I would have to say my favorite character is Audrey Horne I could swoon about her for hours but the dress I created was not where I drew the inspiration.

I based this dress on the Red Room, I loved the layout and colors used in the room. However I couldn't get my hands on fabric that had the black and white design on it so I used a deep red. The pattern I used is from the 60's and yes I got it off etsy. :)

This is the pattern. I really loved the way it looked and the flow it had to it and it was relatively easy to sew. The fabric I used with a cotton spandex blend but its very soft and has a great flow. :) However I wanted to give the dress a Twin Peaks feel so I was going to do some embroidery however I am not the best when it comes to emboridery so I did my best with her.

"The Red Room"
Now let me introduce you to Laura :)
This is her before I did the embroidery, she came out very well and I'm so proud I just can't get over how soft the fabric is without being super thin and see through.

This is me wearing Laura and she does have great flow I was very shocked and surprised when I spun around the first time haha. The type of person I see in Laura is a fun and flirty girl who isn't afraid to take risks and go on adventures. This great for an everyday outting and you can even dress it up for a night on the town. Shes very versatile. :)
As you can see I really enjoyed modeling this dress haha.
This is the embroidery I used, its small but I like it. Hopefully I get better with embroidery but its nice I got the practice in.

Thats all for now folks have a great weekend everyone! Ja ne! :)
