Floral Dreams

Hello everyone! it has been a while since I last posted a creation of mine but it has been a long and crazy year. So I'm going to jump right in and say I've decided to use Mood fabrics as my main source of fabric nothing against Joanns it is just Mood offers a wider range of good high quality fabric so I've been making more fabric purchases from them.

Now over the year I have been sewing but just small pieces like skirts and pants for myself but haven't been making bigger pieces like dresses and whole outfits just for financial reasons but in this post I'll be sharing a dress and a skirt that I made so I hope you enjoy.

So I present to you Kendra!

So I made this dress using fabric from Mood and it is I believe 100% polyester and I used a vintage pattern I got from etsy.

This is the pattern I used and is from the 1940's it's a simple pattern but you can do so much with it and I really love it.

Kendra is a dress for the woman on the go, lunch with friends, going out on the town on a beautiful sunny day, shopping etc. It's a nice print that isn't too overwhelming on the eyes and I really love how she came out.

Next is a circle skirt I made using fabric I got from my friends shop. I'm not sure what the fabric type is but it feels pretty sturdy though it wrinkles easily. I used/drafted a circle skirt using an old vintage pattern and eyeing it to make it fit me.

The print is berries and leaves and is great for the holiday season.

I am so happy about how these garments came out and the photos as well and it feels wonderful to be able to share my creations again and I have a few lined up so hopefully I can share them with you soon.

Photos/Makeup: Done by my friend Janelle so a big wonderful thanks to her!

Rayon Checkers and Stripes

Hello again everyone! It is that time to share another creation with you, lately it has been hard to find good fabric at Joanns because I'm just so picky and I never have the funds for mood so I tried my hand at looking for fabric on etsy and I was not disappointed. I choose 5 yards of a rayon fabric that had a great vintage look to it.

This was the pattern I used, style A. However the way I situated the print with the pattern made it so that I couldn't make the skirt portion of the dress so I improvised and used a skirt pattern that I could use with the little left over fabric I had. While the outcome was not a full skirt look I still love the way the dress came out. Now let me introduce Estella!

I absolutely love this print,it is so beautiful but not overwhelming to the eyes. This dress is pretty versatile, it can be worn out with friends and can be dressed up for night as well.

With this close up you'll notice that besides the stripes and dots there is a checkered background which is a lovely detail and surprise.

I hope you guys enjoyed and I can't wait to share another creation with you soon.

Ja ne everyone! :)

Cigarette Pants and the Atomic Bag

Hello everyone! Hope all is well especially after the earthquakes we've been having lately. I'm here to share another separates post because as summer draws closer I want to be able to mix and match my pieces.

This is the pattern I used, this pattern I have been searching for, for over a year now. I found a listing for it but the seller was just asking way too much and on a whim about a month ago I searched around again and I found another seller selling it for much cheaper and of course I snatched it up. I love these pants as well as the top but I mainly fell in love with the pants because I love high waisted pants and they are just so slim and sleek. I was only able to make the pants not the top since money has been tight.

And here are the pants, I used a cotton stripped denim I got on sale at Joann's. It is very softly and slightly sheer but not sheer enough to where it is inappropriate. I paired it with a sleeveless white turtle neck, a vintage head scarf as well as atomic lunch bag turned into purse that I'll shall shortly.

This is the atomic bag I purchased, it was actually a lunch bag but I decided it would get a better use if I turned it into a purse and it actually holds a lot I just have to be delicate with it.

Here is a better shot of it.

I plan on making more of these because these pants really show off my figure and it doesn't hurt that the day was very beautiful but very windy which my mom did not enjoy since the vintage dress we were taking pictures of was blowing every which way.

This is the vintage dress my mom was modeling. She is an avid vintage dress collector and we've been taking more and more pictures of her in these dresses so we can share them, in the future I plan on compiling them into a master post I hope to share with you all soon.

I hope you all enjoyed this post :)

S'mores

Hello everyone hope you all are enjoying spring, I know I am. Though I must say I'm still wearing a lot of fall colors I just can't help it I gravitate towards darker colors and hues. Recently I've been buying a lot of patterns that are separates instead of dress patterns because I want to be able to mix and match my creations. While looking around on etsy I found this beautiful skirt pattern that I just had to have.

This is the pattern and I just fell in love so of course I bought though it was a very large pattern so I ended up having to shorten in when I transferred it to fabric. The type of fabric I used was a linen blend so it drapes very well though I'd watch out for windy days.

This is my lovely circle skirt, I shopped around Joanns for two hours and still ended up picking a dark color but I really love this color brown. I paired it with some vintage boots I received, some brown tights and a sleeveless turtle neck with minimal accessories. I really love this entire outfit and the scarf is also vintage. This can be a fun flirty outfit that can even be worn to a laid back job.

I really had fun creating this skirt because it's something simple to make and you can make a ton with different designs on it like on the pattern shown.

I'm hoping to make more of these skirts in the future, I hope you enjoyed.

Ja ne everyone!

White Stripes

Hello again everyone! Hope those in socal enjoyed the well needed rain.

I'm here to introduce another dress to you and it's sooner than you all probably expected though I did make this dress a couple of months back I got a chance to be able to have a photo shoot so I could share this with you. The pattern I used was something I just stumbled across on esty and I fell in love.

This is the pattern and I believe it's from the late 50's early 60's and I just loved the block pattern for the top and bottom of the dress for dress A and I loved the scallops for B.

I planned to make custom orders for this dress but money has been tight as of late however if any readers would like to discuss getting this dress made for them just drop me a line.

Now I would like to introduce Carrie.

I loved the colors used for dress A so much I recreated it, and it's amazing! I used Linen for the white portion which gives it a little weight though the down side is the wrinkles.

So Carrie is more of a spring into summer kind of dress, you'd wear her out on a nice day, to the beach, park etc. I really do love this dress and she was fun to make and if you'd like to have this dress custom made for you just drop me a line. :) I hope to bring you more creations soon I hope you enjoyed.

Ja ne everyone!

The Woman in Red

Greetings everyone hope all is well. Of course it's been a while since I posted an outfit a lot has been going but I have been creating outfits. The garment I am about to share with you I made about a month ago so wow I'm now sharing it with you now.

This is the pattern I used.

I've really been into wiggle dresses, I love how they look on my figure and they just make feel badass. The cape I didn't make just because it doesn't really match the southern California weather but it doesn't mean I won't make the cape.

This was fun and interesting pattern to work with, it was a one piece outfit too so the bodice and skirt are connected which I didn't know at first.

So now I introduce Moira
I chose a heavy cotton for the skirt and a softer but thick cotton for the top. I loved the color scheme I chose for the outfit and I tied it together with some vintage red shoes I purchased. The dress is quite slimming and accentuates my curves but at the same time isn't too tight to where as you can't move around.

Close up of the detail of the fabric.

So Moira is the type of flirty femme fatale dress, she has an air of dangerous mystery about her. If you saw a woman wear this across the room you'd get the idea that she would take you on a fun thrilling adventure. I really enjoyed making her and I see myself wearing her a lot.

I hope everyone enjoyed and I can't wait to share another garment with you all.

Ja nee!

Floral

Happy New Year everyone! and a merry late xmas. Its been a while since I've posted a creation for you all and I apologize for that I've been busy with so many things and tight with funds and such I haven't gotten around to making anything but I do have a dress to share with you.

I created this dress a while back but I wasn't able to post it up for you all to see, at the time I was really feeling floral, Hawaiian style prints and I just had the idea to create a dress with it and yes I know Hawaiian print and dresses don't necessarily mix but I made it work.

The pattern I used was a pattern that I've shared before and is the one I used to create a dress for my mother on mothers day.

This is the pattern as a reminder, I really love style B of the pattern and its something you can easily make again and again but switch it up with different prints and just adding your own style.

Now I present to you....Flora.

I made her a little shorter just because if I made her just as long as the pattern it would be to my ankles and would look awkward on my 5"4 frame so I opted for a above the knee look.

Flora is a tricky dress to accessorize with so I just chose black flats with studs, a black belt, and a black cardigan because you can never go wrong with black. Flora is a sunny day outing kind of dress. She can be worn to a luncheon with friends or just spending the day shopping or hanging with friends. I enjoyed making her, I'm hoping to be able to post more soon.
Ah and a special announcement I will be creating dresses using this pattern

I will post the pattern on my etsy starting next week Jan 8th. I use Joann's to pick up fabrics so if you would like you can pick out the fabric you want from Joann's. I am taking preorders so if you want to discuss color, type of fabric or measurements you can message me on my etsy page, etsy.com/anezvintageclothing.

I hope you all enjoyed and I hope to share with you soon.

Ja ne everyone!
